… just had a bizarre conversation with qingxiang over the phone. initially i called to ask him regarding what to do post-ord, and slowly our topics evolved to how wonderful it is if we have $2 million in our bank account…. and gradually became a discussion on whether we will “take it in the ass” …. for $2 million.

after a very brief consideration, we both concluded that we are indeed whores, albeit expensive ones. :(

it was a nua weekend all the way.

after giving tuition to my cousin yesterday afternoon, went to the newly-opened “The Cathay” with shiqing, dezhi and a friend of his, to watch “New World”. The Cathay building is sleek and nice, much better than the old one (which i’ve never been to but have seen photos of).

we were discussing if people will actually flock over to Cathay for movies since there is already a PS near the doby ghaut mrt, and the main way to reach cathay is via mrt to doby ghaut, and that the only outstanding feature of the Cathay is the screening of various exclusive indies shows at the picturehouse @ lvl 6. probably they will, considering the number of sold out art shows i saw yesterday. and things will probably be even better when shopping centres are constructed at lvls 1 to 4.

new world sucks though. (but still better than ‘date movie’. sorry, honey. :) ) sq and i were counting down at abt 1 hr before the show ended in 10 minute intervals which really seemed like half an hour periods. it has good reviews, but… not for casual goers like me. :) too bloody slow and boring.

after which, went to dynasty ktv pub which is situated just beside “the cathay” with a humungous bunch of prev meddies and ex-prev meddies. 10 of us in total. it was really quite nice, even though a lot of us didn’t sing much. several interesting points to note.. richie captivated everyone with his superb vocals; guojie reluctantly (but successfully) took on various britney spears and madonna songs (wahahah!); poor jiahao couldn’t seem to find an ideal song for him; bobby and his “exotic” choice of hokkien song which eventually turned out to be one we all knew; david, jeff and i amused ourselves with the mindless hai dai moves which no one else cared; liwei and i (as usual) tried to imitate jay chou’s fast numbers, but in vain; kelvin, being mike-shy as usual, generously passed the mike to everyone else but himself; beng engrossed himself in liverpool v everton.

supper came after that, before we went home.

celebrated grandfather’s birthday today, at a restaurant in Joo Chiat. we were initially quite annoyed with it’s inaccessibility, and the fact that it’s situated right in the midst of those lap sup pubs. (just when my dad was cursing the people over there and commenting on how sleazy the place is, i realised i visited one of those before!) the food was okae-ish, but i couldn’t wait to leave the place actually. was seated in a table with the rest of my cousins, who spent the whole night talking about ’superstar idol’ which i never even watched before. -_- either that, or on really inappropriate conversation topics. i was so glad when dessert was served.

just like that, the weekend has passed. still thinking of what to do (or NOT to do) during my post-ord-pre-enrolment period.

just ran from amk to orchard… again. this time with zhiyang… but i don’t think i’m going to run with him again. he’s wayyy too fast for me! we completed the whole stretch in slightly more than an hours time, even taking a fifteen minute break in between somemore. this, as compared to two hours when i was running with kelvin wahahahaha!

ok i’m damn bored so here goes.

the power of adobe photoshop.

ok this is damn out of point… but i have to give credit to my understudy david for his superb adobe expertise. forgive us… i’m bored, and he’s doing ops. (the first modification is done by me though, using paint. no, i wasn’t giving a blowjob to anyone…)

ok sorry… this is truly out of point, i know. -_-

had my ear pierced last friday, with the accompaniment of ky, and after several days of covering the metal stud on my ear lobe with a piece of plaster (which apparently does not conceal this accessory very well) the wound on the piercing finally healed well enough for me to remove off the ear stud without feeling too much pain. now replaced it with a plastic stud, which is almost invisible at first glance. henceforth, i can have my canteen breaks in camp from tomorrow onwards with a peace of mind.

been nua-ing a lot. watched “nanny mcphee” and “the hills have eyes” over the past week. the latter is superbly nice! can’t believe i actually get a chance to watch a satisfying bloodfeast on the big screen, (the director of an equally disturbing “haute tension” lives up to expectations indeed) and am expecting a whole lot more to come.. to join the recent spate of similar shows like ‘wolf creek’ and ‘the descent’. apart from that, ran with kelvin from ang mo kio to orchard but due to the inherent slackness present within us we spent the final thirty minutes walking and did not reach our final destination – a nice pasta restaurant – on time, as it has closed upon arrival. otherwise, spent a hell lot of time sleeping; catching up on past sleep debts.

promised my father i will go over to his factory and help him prepare his “dim sum” a few times each week from april onwards. but i keep hearing exciting tales from various friends about their new jobs after they ORD: from first experience in a court case (for a law intern), to interview with stephanie sun who didn’t turn up in the end but that’s not the point (for a business times journalist intern), to selling various interesting objects to companies (for a door to door salesman). and this makes me very tempted to go and do something else. but the thought of having to go to an interview still frightens me. it’s an inevitable part of life, but…. a humungous hurdle to cross. :(

something happened in office the past two days. this is even worse than the overblown drama we had last year regarding the posting of someone to crescendo. this is my first encounter with a person showing his ugly side. must say i am quite shocked at how things turned out, and truly empathise the victim involved. but it is good that things eventually turned well for him, after suffering so much injustice (in silence. no, you aren’t being too emotional at all. in fact, you’re being too kind!) for so long.

this incident raises an issue amongst us: how far is it appropriate for us to voice our opinions about ourselves without appearing overdramatic or self-important?

as much as we are taught, since young, to be modest, if we don’t attempt to prove to others what we really are to some extent, we are susceptible to emotional stress. two incidents this week have already proven this point. how far we go about doing this without pissing people off is up to our own judgement.

to you though, i don’t believe you’ve gone too far at all. you’re capable, and you know it, and you’re not doing yourself a favour by maintaining silence in the midst of all these misunderstandings for the past months.

went to watch “v for vendetta” with zhongyang yesterday, and was, rather coincidentally, in the same screening as justin and canoeist friends / ex-schoolmates. (but then again, we seldom go beyond ps, lido and cine for movies. oh, and yangtze. hmm.)

it’s reassuring to know that hollywood still churns out decent popcorn fare once in a while, especially after my previous catastrophic experience.

after the show it was catchup time with zhongyang since i haven’t seen him for quite some time. after several rounds of aimless walking around the complex we decided on tcc just outside pcc.
caught up with the status of the other meddies. and this probably being one of the first few occasions, i actually unashamedly accepted zy’s offer to treat me drinks, since i’m *quite* broke these days.

zy’s school timetable is scary. it’s basically a cycle of studying period before CA, and then CA, and then maybe 1 week break followed immediately by exam, and the cycle repeats.

something really interesting happened.

zy took out his lecture notes for me to see, probably to justify why it’s understandable that he can only study one topic a day (granted, the notes are really too boring!), and only to realise that it’s been stained by the coke we brought into the cinema before that.

he took out a wet towel, and announced proudly “i always bring such stuff, in case of emergencies.”

but instead of cleaning the notes, he took out the latest issue of 8 days (also stained) and used the towel to clean that instead. LOL!!!!!!! ok, he did wipe the notes after that as well, but it was funny when it happened.

after we were chased out due to tcc closing time, walked all the way to orchard where i was early enough to catch a bus home while he contemplated whether or not he should join his friends at mambo. upon reaching home, played computer all the way until 5 in the morning without having to worry about going to camp today. the joys of clearing leave lol.

sigh… think my stupid insomnia is striking again. it happened for the past two nights. on sunday night i managed to stay awake for close to two hours in my bed, and woke up one hour before my morning alarm.

read up on how to treat my condition, abstained from facing the computer and tv an hour before i slept yesterday, attempted to read this boring biotech book which i borrowed from the library (which turned out to be quite interesting actually) and drank a glass of fresh milk which supposedly contains sedatives.

it didn’t work. instead, i suffered from super high metabolic rate yesternight, and several pseudo panic spells (you know that dreaded feeling you get when you want to sleep but you can’t and you realise you do not have much time left before you need to get up.)

yea, and i got up 1 .5 hour before my morning alarm and couldn’t get back to sleep. i was damn sleepy when i got up, and actually felt (or thought i felt) refreshed until i saw the clock. only 0430?! then i felt damn pissed and awake all of a sudden and couldn’t sleep no matter what i do… WTF!

i would have done what i used to do; stay up and do some stuff until i became really sleepy and go back to sleep. however, i didn’t think it would be wise to do so, considering:
1) i’m now having a flu / sore throat / phlegmy cough as well to make things worse. in fact, at this point while i’m typing i have a strong urge to pull my nose off. ARGH!!
2) the time which i usually felt sleepy ranged from almost immediately after i picked up a boring book to as “early” as 0800 hrs. not that i can sleep in the morning though. camp is getting really tedious. :(

as a result, i’m now wasting all my half day leaves on the daily inevitable two hour naps in the afternoon which is much more invigorating than the six hour “sleep time” i allocated myself the night before. i need help, argh.

As mentioned in previous entry, here’s a sample of how we “created” our Grape flavoured ice cream.

114212440018403073 Sunday, Mar 12 2006

and again… waking up so goddamned early, despite sleeping at three last night.

celebrated guojie’s birthday at yuki yaki with richie anthony beng and liwei. it’s the second time i ate at the place, and the first time where we were given a chance to try the unique ice cream. you take various small cups of different flavoured liquid and pour them onto this huge metal pan, spread them evenly, as if you’re making crepes / pancakes / those tasty waffles you find at wet markets. the liquid will freeze into ice cream after a while, and you use a spatula to scrape them up and eat them. nice concept, but seriously, there’s nothing really special about the ice cream. the vanilla flavour is delicious (so is walls), but all the other fruit flavours are just… ice with flavourings.

at least the main course was nice :) and i can tell guojie really enjoyed the butter facial richie and i gave him! heehee.

after which, gj, rich and liwei went off to watch “dead movie” (i have WARNED them about the dangers of losing their mind when watching the show! but they did anyway, and even… enjoyed it?! oh well, different people have different forms of lameness immunity. ;) for me, i’d really rather pay $10 to watch 4 episodes of “drawn together” drawn together… hmm.) while the rest of us walked aimlessly along the streets of orchard, like teenagers. went to check out on the costs of piercing, which zhehui has promised to go with me (wheee!) when i decide to make one. will do the $4 unhygienic one instead of the $65 needle one that anthony recommended though -_- and played what seemed like hours of “word dojo” at the PS arcade, trying in vain to beat the high score of the day.

finally, went to dbl-o with beng zhiyang kangyeow zhehui and his gf, to celebrate a certain occasion, but none of us actually knew what it is. (as usual.) we have all resigned to the fact that you can’t really spend less at these kind of places, without truly enjoying yourself. and the club is shrewd enough to approach all of us when we were high with those expensive but nice syringe shots. which means more money gone… damnit. nvm, will compensate by not spending anything today lol.

again… waking up even though i don’t wish to. actually i was already awake half an hour ago. the last thing i remembered was dreaming that i was playing multiplayer castlevania with 2 other guys, and quarrelling with 1 of them rather heatedly because i decided to quit earlier to go to sleep.

i wonder what this dream actually means??
