Timewalk with Songs Sunday, Apr 5 2009

I don’t know if I’ve written about this before, but it’s very true that listening to some songs will bring back memories, good or bad, just so because during that era, you have been listening to those songs. At least for me la…

OHHH I’ve recently bought a new ipod nano. Because my nokia N70 audio socket (and cable) has gone bonkers. Good riddance, i never liked the engineering involved in making that anyway. I hope I will not come up with such shitty engineering innovations when I start working next time, lol.

The ipod nano is great, cuz it’s 8 gig, and now I have ALL the songs in my computer transferred to the ipod. But I still dislike APple. Twice the syncing deletes all my songs in my ipod instead of updates them. but that’s like a totally different issue which I will whine about in future if it happens again lol.

And so, I have been hearing so many old songs, songs which I have deleted from my N70 playlist due to lack of space, and some which I have almost totally forgotten about.

And so I heard “I Believe in You” by Il Divo and Celine Dion, which is really an awesome song. And that brought me back to the army prev med days, puzzle fighters, kboxing and spontaneous dinner and suppers.

And then I heard “I Ran So far away” by A Flock of Seagulls. Instantly I was reminded of the days where I was playing GTA: Vice City. Driving the car through the streets in a rainy night. Looking at the sea on the left, the city life on the right. It’s the nice “urban solitude” feeling zy and I agree we feel whenever we do this, in between missions. Trademark song for the game… I can’t shake off this relation, probably never will…

And then I uncovered a folder which disappeared on my Windows Vista desktop. Containing all the eurodance/ techno which I sped up to 1.25 speed. There was this song by Cosmic Club called Millenium. Ahhh… how can I forget!!! Haha.. the RUSH Aiyo maiyo maiyo-era. Watching gang fights and arrests in action in the state of near-drunkenness. Avoiding police suspicions during sudden drug raids even though we were all clean. This is one period which I know I will never and should never relive again. Only the memories are left.

Shit I wasted too much time on blogging. I should get back to studying accountancy. Second upper is not too bad for me to start giving up totally..

Easter Musicale 2009 Sunday, Apr 5 2009

easter

All are invited!

Anyway it’s quite encouraging that I managed to get 3 unlikely people to go for the concert this time (1 from army, 2 from nus chem eng). They’re all good friends that I care a lot about, so I feel really happy. But because they all are going on the same day (lack of planning for my part), I may have trouble speaking after the concert. I think the purpose of going for the concert is lost if immediately after that we start chatting and introducing one another.

But if I talk about my faith to two different groups of people at the same time, I am not sure if it’s as effective as it can be? Hmm. Pray for guidance and wisdom. In any case, it’s a good thing that all 3 are open to Christianity though. So there is no need to go through the intellectual jargon on the existence of God and reality of the resurrection, and we can jump straight in to the basis of faith. Which is actually what matters the most.

Random Thoughts … Sunday, Apr 5 2009

Not having first-class level / profs to write recommendation doesn’t mean I shld slack, since 2:1 is still not too bad, and needs effort to maintain.

If our mercy has a limit, if our reach has an end, if our favor must always be earned. What makes us different in the world’s eyes? Where is the proof that we belong to Christ?

Even in biblical times, King David, in his strongest(?) moment, still succumbed to huge sins. And it’s true that some consequences of sin are irreversible (allowed by God), but God’s grace still stands, God’s mercy still abounds. What matters is that we truly repent and not repeat the same mistake again.

Dead in trespasses, made alive with Christ. (Ephesians 2)

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” (John 10: 28-29)

Arrangers who improvise game soundtracks (esp. piano) are truly ingenuous!
