I’ve always wanted to watch this show but couldn’t find the energy to sit through 3 hours. I’ve heard it’s a great show and all, and tried to watch it at the age of 16 but I couldn’t appreciate it then and quit after 45 minutes haha. Just watched finish Schindler’s List, and true to what people say, it’s really one of those shows that will leave you blurry-eyed at the end. Very touching… Reminds me of Sophie Scholl, another movie about a heroic Nazi-resistance group. You know, on people who would risk their lives to save others unrelated to them, you would think that these people are rare. But a check on wikipedia reveals thousands, yes, thousands of people all over the world who risked their lives to help the persecuted Jews during World War II. Of course this shows that God always shows mercy to His own people despite the atrocities committed to them since the OT times, but on the other hand it also inspires us, that you know there are indeed truly good people around us, and times of trouble bring out the worst in some, and the best in others.
This is like the second holocaust-related movie I’ve watched in the past week, after La Vita è Bella (Life is beautiful), another touching account on how a Jewish father protects his son in a concentration camp. But I enjoyed Schindler’s List much more lol. I intend to watch The Grey Zone soon, another holocaust movie, though I heard it’s not as good as these two though.
